Simplify Backups, Improve RTO & Run More Frequent Backups: Cloud Provider Snapshots for Couchbase Capella

Couchbase is introducing cloud provider snapshots for its Capella managed database service, allowing for fast backup and recovery of entire database disk storage within minutes. This feature enables faster end-to-end recoverability, reduces business downtime, and improves governance over data storage. With the introduction of cloud provider snapshots, Couchbase aims to provide a more cost-effective and performant database solution for powering business-critical applications. The new feature offers immediate access to cloud provider snapshot technology for scheduled and on-demand disk data backups, using native snapshot services that start with full backups and follow with incremental backups. This process does not impact the operational database, enabling significantly faster backup and recovery, especially for large Capella clusters. Existing bucket backups will continue to coexist with the new feature, providing an alternative for various use cases.
