Power-up Developers with Mutant Pods
Kubernetes is being used for more than just scheduling containers to host production application workloads. It can also run developer workspace images as pods, making developers' lives easier by providing benefits such as cost-saving resource sharing and intellectual property boundaries. In this post, we explore the advanced capabilities Kubernetes provides for powering up development environments, including the use of mutating webhooks to modify API requests and enable actions that may not be initially available. We also demonstrate how to use a mutating webhook to mount a shared volume so that a developer can access a large dataset without having to copy it into their workspace.
