CockroachDB 24.3: Enhanced resilience and a simplified self-service trial
Cockroach Labs has released CockroachDB 24.3, a version that improves resilience and performance while adding enterprise capabilities such as support for Microsoft's Active Directory and database triggers. The release includes features like WAL failover, which transparently handles transient disk stalls without disruption in access to data ranges, and Logical Data Replication (LDR), which delivers a solution for two-data-center high availability. Physical cluster replication has also been enhanced to support workload isolation, enabling read workflows to take advantage of the secondary cluster to scale read performance. Additionally, CockroachDB now integrates with Active Directory for enhanced security, simplified user management, and improved compliance. The release also introduces database triggers, which enable customers to expand the types of workloads they can migrate to CockroachDB. Furthermore, improvements have been made to the CockroachDB Console, including easier navigation and performance enhancements for larger clusters.
