Sudan's exam-related Internet shutdowns
Many countries, including Syria and Sudan, restrict or shut down internet access during critical exam hours to prevent cheating. In Sudan, four such shutdowns have occurred so far in June 2021. The outages typically last three hours, starting at 6:00 UTC (8:00 local time) and ending at 9:00 UTC (11:00 local time). These timings align with those announced by the Sudanese Ministry of Education. During these exam times, mobile internet use drops significantly while desktop usage increases. The largest drop in use is for mobile internet access in Sudan, which is typically above 75% of traffic. Live data on future outages can be viewed on the Cloudflare Radar Sudan page.
