Multi-User IP Address Detection

Cloudflare has introduced multi-user IP address detection to improve its security tools and reduce false positives for customers. The company aims to help businesses distinguish between traffic from legitimate users and potentially malicious ones, as relying solely on IP addresses can lead to mistakenly blocking or challenging site visitors. Multi-user IP addresses take various forms, such as enterprise VPNs, proxies, NAT, and CG-NAT systems. Cloudflare's detection tool identifies these situations by analyzing parameters like source ports and user agents. The integration of this feature into products like Bot Management and Rate Limiting is expected to reduce false positive bot detections involving multi-user IP addresses and decrease the likelihood of legitimate users being blocked or challenged.
