Making Video Intuitive: An Explainer

In this post, we explore how various video coding settings can impact the quality of a video. We start with a high-quality video and intentionally degrade it by adjusting parameters such as resolution and bitrate. By comparing different versions of the video, we learn about factors that determine the perceived quality of a video, including frame rate, codec choice, level, profile, bitrate, resolution, color space, and keyframe frequency. We use FFmpeg to manipulate these settings and observe their effects on the resulting video.
