Introducing Smart Edge Revalidation
Cloudflare has introduced Smart Edge Revalidation, a feature designed to ensure efficient synchronization of compute resources between its edge and a browser. The new feature aims to reduce unnecessary origin calls by ensuring that HTTP response headers required for revalidation are present even when an origin doesn't send them. This results in less wasted bandwidth and compute for objects that do not need to be redownloaded, as well as faster browser page loads for users. Smart Edge Revalidation is set to be enabled automatically for all Cloudflare customers over the coming weeks.
