Cloudflare incident on November 14, 2024, resulting in lost logs

On November 14, 2024, Cloudflare experienced an incident that impacted the majority of customers using Cloudflare Logs, causing a loss of about 55% of logs sent to customers during the roughly 3.5 hours the services were affected. The failure was due to a misconfiguration in one part of the system, which caused a cascading overload in another part of the system that was itself misconfigured. Cloudflare is working on improving its systems and processes to prevent similar issues from happening again. They are also planning regular "overload tests" to ensure their production systems can handle such incidents gracefully.
