Bring your own certificates to Cloudflare Gateway

What's this blog post about?

On January 9th, 2023, at 2:00 PM, Ankur Aggarwal announced that Cloudflare's Zero Trust platform now supports customer-provided certificates to provide flexibility and ease of deployment options. IT and Security administrators can choose between using custom certificates or the existing method, which involves installing Cloudflare's own certificate for HTTP filtering policies. The new approach allows organizations to maintain control over their certificates while enabling additional security controls. To get started with custom certificates, users must upload root certificates via API and associate them with their Zero Trust account ID. The process takes approximately one minute without any maintenance downtime. Alternatively, administrators can install Cloudflare's own root certificate on devices to support HTTP filtering policies for reduced administrative overhead. Future updates will include a new UI for managing user-side certificates and an updated HTTP policy builder.
