Partnering with Mapbox: A New Stack for Location Intelligence

Today we are excited to announce a new partnership with Mapbox that better integrates our services with one another, making it easier for customers to use both services together. As of today, Mapbox will be our default provider for Location Based Services, including geocoding and routing services, for most CARTO enterprise accounts, running Mapbox under the hood when users geocode data inside the platform. This change enables new capabilities such as last week's announcement that CARTO Engine now supports Mapbox Vector Tiles, ensuring users have the best experiences with both technologies. The partnership marks a shift towards innovation in the GIS industry, embracing new data streams and sources, and developing new methods and analyses customized to these new data types. With this new stack, Mapbox + CARTO's spatial analytics capabilities make working with location data and spatial analytics simpler, faster, and more efficient for users building location apps with spatial analytics capabilities.
