Behind the Scenes: Testing the Airbyte Maintainer Program

Airbyte, a data integration platform, launched a successful program alongside Hacktoberfest to incentivize the creation of connectors. The program resulted in over 40 new connectors and expanded their catalog from 110 to 150 potential data sources. However, they realized that maintenance of existing connectors is equally important as creating new ones. To address this, Airbyte introduced a Maintainer Program with three ways to participate: resolving issues, reviewing Pull Requests (PRs), and improving documentation. The program offers cash rewards for each task completed and aims to create a mentorship opportunity for new contributors while rewarding veteran contributors for their engagement with the community.
