Relaunching the Universal API for Realtime
PubNub recently launched rltm.js, a Universal API for Realtime Messaging. This announcement was well received by the community as it aligned with the long-held vision of many developers and companies, including Ably, to promote realtime messaging interoperability. However, five days ago, PubNub changed direction and made rltm.js less open source, replacing its original Mozilla license with a new one that restricts usage for commercial purposes. In response, Ably has created urtlm.js, a fork of the original rltm.js project from when it had an open source license. The new urltm.js website is available at https://universal-realtime.github.io/urltm.js/.
